OUR STORY

For over 30 years, we’ve proudly served the Cresta Shopping Mall community and built many lasting relationships with our patients and customers. Our practice is based on a simple but unwavering foundation: offering professional service, top-quality product and the latest equipment.

The VISION Optometry Team

DAVOR JADRIJEVIC

Davor graduated with a B.Optom degree from the University of Johannesburg in 2001 and has been in private practice since 2002. He completed a CAS certificate in “Advanced Study in Contact Lenses and Anterior Segment Disease” in 2009, joined the team as an optometrist and partner in 2010, and later completed the “Ocular Diagnostics Course.” In 2022, he earned a CAS certificate in “Management of Diabetes for Eye Care Providers” and is currently working toward the “Ocular Therapeutics for Optometrists” qualification to prescribe therapeutic eye drops.

Davor values the balance of clinical skills and human interaction in optometry, embracing the technology available to make a positive impact on patients’ lives. As a practice owner, he stays at the forefront of optometry advancements while leading a diverse, talented team.

In his personal life, Davor is married with three daughters. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, playing golf and has an interest in Croatian history.

His core optometry interests include eye disease diagnosis and management, as well as dry eyes.

JUNILLA GABEL-SMIT

Junilla Gabel-Smit is an experienced optometrist with a focus on pediatric optometry, dry eye, pathology, and contact lenses. She earned her B.Optom degree from University of Johannesburg in 2004 and has been in private practice for over 20 years.

Committed to professional growth, Junilla completed a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Binocular Vision, Pediatrics, and Performance Vision in 2008. In 2022, she obtained a CAS in Diabetes Management for Eye Care Providers and is currently working toward a qualification in Ocular Therapeutics for Optometrists, enabling her to prescribe therapeutic eye drops. Her journey with VISION Optometrists™ began in 2002 as a student at Classic Eyes Cresta, later joining as an optometrist in 2005 and becoming a partner. Inspired by a vision-related challenge that altered her career path from aspiring navigator to optometrist, Junilla now thrives in the field.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, spending time with her three children, family, and friends. Her dedication to patient care & optometry continues to drive her passion for helping others achieve optimal vision and eye health.
